The 1964 was so good when it first came out, that it was the first non-Cuban cigar to be counterfeited. Padron had to make special double bands with individualized numbers so that the consumer knew he had the real cigar, not some imitation. The PADRON 1964 ANNIVERSARY SERIES is limited and exclusive and only one to two thousand boxes are manufactured per year. The 1964 is distributed to only a small minority of cigar shops. First introduced in 1994 as a box pressed premium cigar to celebrate the Padron family tradition of cigar excellence for their thirty year anniversary. The 1964 was showcased to the world and the world responded. Like fine wines, expensive furniture and pricey cars, the cigar universe now has a super-premium “real” cigar in that exclusive class. Like all superior products, there is a price to pay for the privilege of purchasing high quality items and the 1964 is no exception, but the reward is worth the cost.
