Don Pepin Garcia E.R.H. Toro brings back a name tied directly to Pepin Garcia’s early days in the American cigar business.
E.R.H. stands for El Rey de Los Habanos, and the 6″ x 52 Toro is built around an Ecuadorian Sumatra Rosado Oscuro wrapper with Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos grown in Estelí, Jalapa and Condega.
Pepper gets your attention early, but this isn’t just another strong Nicaraguan cigar. Cedar, earth and darker tobacco begin filling things out as it burns, with touches of coffee and spice giving the Toro more depth through the middle.
The 52-ring format keeps everything in a comfortable balance. Plenty of Pepin character. Without overdoing it.

Don Pepin Garcia E.R.H. Toro (6″ x 52) takes an old Garcia family name and gives it a fresh Nicaraguan life.
E.R.H. stands for El Rey de Los Habanos. That name matters. It traces back to the Little Havana factory in Miami where Don Pepin Garcia built an important part of his reputation before My Father Cigars became what it is today. Now the name is back. And the cigar still tastes very much like Pepin.
The Toro starts with an Ecuadorian Sumatra Rosado Oscuro wrapper. Darker in appearance with a reddish cast, it covers Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos pulled from Estelí, Jalapa and Condega.
Three growing regions. Three slightly different personalities. All working underneath one wrapper. Pepper tends to come first. That familiar Don Pepin spice lands quickly, followed by cedar and earth as the cigar begins settling into the 6″ x 52 format.
Then the profile gets wider. Leather. Roasted tobacco. A little coffee. Occasional darker sweetness.
The Sumatra wrapper gives the blend a character that feels different from some of Pepin’s more straightforward Nicaraguan cigars. There is spice, certainly, but also a softer aromatic side that keeps the Toro from becoming one long blast of pepper.
That is where this size works. The 52 ring gauge gives the filler enough room to show itself while keeping the wrapper firmly involved. Not oversized. Not rushed.
Just a traditional Toro with enough tobacco to let the blend move around. As it progresses, the sharper opening settles back and the cigar becomes more rounded, with cedar, earth, espresso-like richness and roasted nuts working through the smoke.
E.R.H. has history behind it. But it doesn’t need nostalgia to make the cigar interesting. The tobacco handles that part. One Toro. One of Pepin Garcia’s oldest names. And plenty of the pepper, wood and Nicaraguan character that made that name worth bringing back.
