Ten years of Pan Caliente called for more than a new band.
The HVC Pan Caliente 10th Anniversary Gloriosos was created as a special anniversary release celebrating one of the blends that helped put HVC on the map. Measuring 6.8″ x 54, it has a long, substantial profile that gives the tobacco plenty of time to develop.
The blend starts with an Ecuadorian Habano 2000 wrapper, followed by a Nicaraguan binder and a combination of Nicaraguan and Peruvian fillers. Included in the mix is Peruvian Pelo de Oro, giving the cigar an interesting twist you don’t find in every Nicaraguan-style blend.
The first few draws bring some pepper and cedar. Then it settles in.
Cocoa, toasted bread and earth begin to show themselves, joined by a subtle sweetness that rounds everything out. The spice hangs around in the background rather than taking over. Rich enough to keep your attention. Balanced enough that you can actually enjoy the whole cigar without feeling like you went twelve rounds with it.
And at nearly seven inches long, there’s plenty of cigar here.
The 54-ring gauge helps keep the smoke cool while allowing the different tobaccos to open up gradually. Flavors shift as you work through it, becoming deeper and a little richer toward the final third.
