This HVC Stud 9-Cigar Sampler was built around variety. Not nine versions of the same cigar. Each blend brings something different to the table.
HVC cigars have consistently earned strong ratings, regularly landing in the 90-to-94-point range. That reputation for quality shows throughout this sampler, from the construction to the balance and flavor of each blend.
The HVC La Decoración Decoración starts things off with a longer, slower smoke. Refined, but not mild. Cedar, toasted nuts, warm spice, and a touch of sweetness move in and out as the cigar burns.
Next are two box-pressed HVC Edición Especial 2015 cigars: a Toro and a Gordo. Both use a dark Mexican San Andrés wrapper that gives the blend its heavier character. Cocoa. Coffee. Earth. Black pepper. Richer than La Decoración, but never sloppy or overpowering.
The remaining six cigars come from the HVC Cerro line. You receive a Natural and Maduro in three different sizes: Robusto, Robusto Gordo, and Toro. The Natural versions lean toward cedar, roasted nuts, pepper, and dry spice. The Maduro cigars go darker, bringing espresso, cocoa, earth, leather, and a little natural sweetness.
