This 6″ x 60 Gordo is an all-Nicaraguan blend made by A.J. Fernandez, finished with a dark Nicaraguan Maduro wrapper. Expect a broad, full-flavored smoke with espresso, cocoa, earth, black pepper and roasted tobacco working together from start to finish.
The larger ring gauge gives the blend room to settle down. Pepper is still there. So is the strength.
But the Gordo comes across broader and a little more relaxed than the smaller sizes, with plenty of dense smoke and a natural tobacco sweetness developing underneath the darker flavors.

Made for Room101 by A.J. Fernandez in Nicaragua, the Johnny Tobacconaut Maduro uses Nicaraguan tobacco from wrapper to filler. A dark Maduro wrapper gives the blend its deeper personality, while the thick 60-ring Gordo slows everything down and lets the tobacco open up over a longer smoke.
The beginning has some bite.
Black pepper and earthy Nicaraguan tobacco show themselves quickly, followed by espresso and dry cocoa.
Give it a little time.
The sharper edges begin settling down and the cigar gets broader. Coffee becomes darker. Cocoa gains some richness. Cedar, roasted nuts and warm spice move in and out, while a natural tobacco sweetness helps keep the profile from becoming too dry or aggressive.
That’s where the Gordo works especially well.
The 6″ x 60 size gives the filler tobaccos more influence, softening some of the sharper pepper you may notice in the smaller vitolas. You still get the strength and darker Maduro character, but everything has more room to stretch out.

The final portion brings the darker side back forward with earth, espresso, leather and pepper becoming more noticeable again.
