Drew Estate Liga Privada No. 9 Corona Viva
A slimmer ring gauge. The same legendary tobacco. Liga Privada No. 9 Corona Viva (6″ x 46) delivers the unmistakable richness of Connecticut Broadleaf in a traditional, narrower format. Dense espresso, dark cocoa, earthy tobacco, and lingering spice define this full-bodied Nicaraguan cigar. The Brazilian Mata Fina binder and carefully selected Honduran and Nicaraguan fillers provide depth without burying the wrapper’s natural character. Twenty-four cigars per box. An excellent choice for smokers who appreciate a more traditional ring gauge.

Liga Privada No. 9 Corona Viva – Connecticut Broadleaf at Its Finest
Not every great cigar needs a 60-ring gauge. Sometimes a thinner cigar tells you more about the tobacco than a big one ever could.
The Liga Privada No. 9 Corona Viva measures six inches with a 46-ring gauge. A classic size, and one that gives this powerful blend a different personality from its larger counterparts.
The cigar wears the same dark Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper found throughout the No. 9 family. Stalk-cut and carefully cured, the leaf develops the heavy texture and deep character that make this blend so recognizable. It’s a serious-looking wrapper. Dark veins, natural oils, and a rugged appearance that doesn’t need to be dressed up.
Inside, the Brazilian Mata Fina binder surrounds Honduran and Nicaraguan fillers. Together, they create the rich tobacco foundation that keeps No. 9 firmly planted among full-bodied premium cigars.
A Richer Focus on the Wrapper
One of the interesting things about a 46-ring-gauge cigar is the relationship between the wrapper and filler. With a narrower diameter, the wrapper represents a greater proportion of the tobacco by volume than it would in a much larger cigar.
That can make the wrapper’s contribution particularly noticeable.
For a blend built around exceptional Connecticut Broadleaf, that’s an attractive proposition.
Flavor Profile – Roasted Coffee, Cocoa, and Pepper
The Corona Viva carries the dark, roasted character associated with Liga Privada No. 9. Espresso and earthy tobacco form the backbone, while cocoa and black pepper provide contrast.
There is sweetness here, too. Not the candy-like sweetness of a flavored cigar. More of a natural, dark tobacco richness that works against the coffee and leather notes.
As the smoke develops, roasted wood and a little spice can come into focus. The narrower format may give the cigar a more concentrated impression, especially when compared with wider No. 9 sizes.
The overall character remains full-bodied. Strong tobacco flavor, plenty of depth, and a lingering finish.
A Traditional Size Worth Rediscovering
The Corona Viva isn’t trying to compete with the biggest cigar in your humidor.
That’s not the point.
Its six-inch length provides room for the blend to develop, while the narrower ring gauge appeals to smokers who prefer traditional proportions and a more compact feel in the hand.
For anyone who already enjoys the larger Liga Privada No. 9 sizes, this is an interesting way to revisit a familiar blend.
