Cigar Aficionado awarded the Epicure 93 points and ranked it No. 16 on its list of the Top 25 Cigars of 2024. A big result for Perdomo. And honestly, well earned.

The Perdomo 30th Anniversary Sun Grown Epicure has some power behind it. You notice that early. Pepper, oak, and deep Nicaraguan tobacco show up almost as soon as the cigar is lit.

Then it settles down.

Leather starts to build through the middle. Toasted almonds too, along with caramel, nougat, and a warm sweetness that keeps the cigar from becoming too dry. Rich smoke. Long finish. Plenty going on, but the flavors never feel thrown together.

This is a Nicaraguan puro made with a Sun Grown wrapper, Nicaraguan binder, and Nicaraguan long-fillers. The tobacco was aged for 15 years before rolling, while the wrapper received additional aging in bourbon barrels. That extra time brings out more oak and sweetness while smoothing down some of the sharper spice.

The 6″ x 54 Epicure is box-pressed and feels substantial without going all the way into oversized territory. It burns slowly. Produces a thick cloud of smoke. And the 54-ring gauge gives the blend room to develop while still keeping the darker flavors focused.

Medium to full-bodied and the strength builds near the end, but the cigar stays balanced when smoked slowly.
