Perdomo Habano BBA Connecticut Robusto
91 Rated cigar from Cigar Aficionado, the Perdomo Habano Bourbon Barrel-Aged Connecticut Robusto starts out smooth. Creamy smoke, toasted cedar, and just a little pepper. Nothing too sharp.
A few minutes in, the sweeter side begins to show. Caramel. Roasted nuts. Maybe a touch of honey around the edges. The finish stays buttery and clean, with the cedar hanging around between draws.
The Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper is aged for six years and then matured in bourbon barrels. Underneath are six-year-aged Cuban-seed Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos. That combination gives the cigar its balance—soft and creamy on the outside, with more body and depth underneath.
At 5″ x 54, the Robusto is short enough for an everyday smoke, but the thicker ring gauge keeps it cool and gives the blend time to open up. Plenty of smoke. Usually an easy draw. And it does not require an entire evening to finish.
Mild to medium-bodied overall. A good morning cigar, especially with coffee. It also works later in the day when you want something flavorful without reaching for a heavy Maduro.
