The original is softer and brighter.
Buenas Noches goes darker.
Drew Estate starts with a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper and places it over a Mexican San Andrés binder with a Dominican-forward filler blend underneath. The familiar Deadwood sweetened cap is still here, but now it has cocoa, earth and deeper tobacco flavors pushing back against it.
That makes this version more interesting.
The first few draws bring the sweetness immediately.
Then the Broadleaf starts doing its job.
Cocoa develops. Earth settles underneath. Warm spice works around the edges, while darker tobacco begins filling in the gaps.
The Robusto size keeps the profile fairly direct.
At 5″ x 54, there isn’t a lot of wasted time before the cigar gets into its rhythm. The wrapper feels more involved than it does in the larger Gordo, giving the Robusto a slightly sharper, more concentrated character.
Not harsh.
Just more focused.
As the cigar progresses, the sweetness becomes better integrated with the tobacco. Cocoa gets richer. Earth stays steady. Spice moves in and out rather than dominating the entire smoke.
