Measuring 6.5″ x 54, the No. 3 is wrapped in a dark, oily Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro leaf. Underneath is a Dominican binder surrounding a blend of five different filler tobaccos selected from the Caribbean and Central America. The cigars are handmade in the Dominican Republic at the renowned Tabacalera A. Fuente factory.
Once lit, the Broadleaf starts doing its thing. Cocoa, toasted nuts and cedar come forward, followed by touches of earth, coffee and a natural Maduro sweetness. The smoke stays creamy and balanced rather than turning heavy or overly aggressive. There is enough richness to keep an experienced Maduro smoker interested, but it remains polished from beginning to end.
That larger 54-ring gauge is an important part of the Diamond Crown character. It gives the blend room to open up gradually, allowing the wrapper and interior tobaccos to work together instead of having one completely dominate the cigar.
