The La Gloria Cubana Serie R No. 3 (4.5″ x 50) Box of 24 is short, stocky, and built with a little attitude.
An Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper sits over a Nicaraguan binder and a mix of Dominican and Nicaraguan filler tobaccos. The profile comes on fairly quick. Earth, roasted coffee, cocoa, cedar and pepper all move through the smoke, with a little sweetness showing up here and there.
At 4.5″ x 50, this is a good size when time is tight but you still want something with some weight behind it. No long introduction. No waiting around. Just that bold Serie R flavor in a compact smoke.

Some cigars take twenty minutes to wake up. The La Gloria Cubana Serie R No. 3 doesn’t really bother with that.
At 4.5″ x 50, this is one of the shorter sizes in the Serie R family, and it gets down to business pretty fast. The cigar uses an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder, and a combination of Dominican and Nicaraguan filler tobaccos.
The first few draws bring earth, cedar and pepper. Then the darker flavors start creeping in. Roasted coffee. Cocoa. Toasted tobacco. A little leather. There’s also a faint sweetness underneath that helps keep the heavier notes from becoming too dry.
It has some strength, sure.
But flavor is really the point.
The shorter length means the blend develops faster than it would in a big Toro or Gordo. You don’t spend much time waiting for the cigar to hit its stride. The 50-ring gauge still gives you a solid amount of smoke, but the overall experience stays manageable.
That makes the No. 3 useful.
After dinner. On the porch. During a break when you want something better than a quick throwaway cigar.
