In January 2022, Cigar Aficionado named the Padron 1964 Anniversary Torpedo (natural) it’s Cigar of the Year for 2021, with an outstanding 97 rating.
The 1964 was so good when it first came out, that it was the first non-Cuban cigar to be counterfeited.
Padron had to make special double bands with individualized numbers so that the consumer knew he had the real cigar, not some imitation. The Padron 1964 Anniversary Torpedo is limited and exclusive and only one to two thousand boxes are manufactured per year.
