Plasencia Alma del Cielo Amanecer is a 6″ x 60 Nicaraguan cigar built around tobacco grown high in the mountains of Condega.
And high means high.
The tobacco comes from Plasencia’s Finca San Julián estate, sitting roughly 1,300 meters above sea level. That unusual growing environment gives the cigar a personality that is noticeably different from the darker, heavier side of the Alma series.
The smoke starts creamy and naturally sweet, with honey, marzipan and nougat before cedar and earth begin filling things out. Orange zest adds a brighter edge, while a light ginger spice develops deeper into the cigar.
The six-sided Hexágono press makes the Amanecer stand out before it is even lit. Big cigar. Unusual tobacco. Far more finesse than the 60 ring gauge might suggest.

Plasencia Alma del Cielo Amanecer Gordo (6″ x 60) Cigar starts with a piece of land most cigars cannot claim.
Finca San Julián.
High in the mountains of Condega, Nicaragua, the Plasencia family’s estate sits around 1,300 meters above sea level. The cooler temperatures, sunlight and growing conditions are different up there. So is the tobacco. Plasencia built Alma del Cielo around that idea. Instead of chasing raw strength, the blend shows a softer and more aromatic side of Nicaraguan tobacco. Honey and marzipan arrive early.
Then comes a creamy nougat character that gives the smoke an almost dessert-like richness without turning sugary. Earth eventually appears underneath. Cedar follows. Then a little orange zest cuts through the richer notes and keeps the profile from becoming too heavy. That contrast is what makes the cigar interesting. Sweet. Woody. Creamy. Then suddenly a little bright.
The Amanecer is also impossible to mistake for an ordinary Gordo.
Plasencia presses the 6″ x 60 cigar into its Hexágono shape, giving it six distinct sides. The format looks unusual, but there is a practical benefit too: the broad ring gauge creates a cool, slow-burning smoke with plenty of room for the different tobaccos to open up.
And there is plenty of tobacco here. Wrapper, binder and filler are all Nicaraguan.
As the cigar moves deeper into the smoke, the sweetness gradually becomes less dominant. Cedar and earth get stronger, nougat hangs around in the background, and a warm ginger-like spice starts showing near the finish.
It never needs to become brutally strong to hold your attention. That isn’t what Alma del Cielo is about. This cigar is more about where the tobacco came from and what that elevation can do to the flavor.
At 6″ x 60, the Amanecer gives you the biggest format in the Alma del Cielo line and plenty of time to figure that out for yourself. One cigar. Six sides. Tobacco grown about 1,300 meters above sea level. Not exactly your everyday Gordo.
