Plasencia Alma del Cielo Boreal Toro takes high-elevation Nicaraguan tobacco and gives it enough room to really open up.
The tobacco is grown at Finca San Julián in Condega, roughly 1,300 meters above sea level, making Alma del Cielo one of the most unusual projects in the Plasencia portfolio. The cooler growing conditions help create a cigar that is noticeably more aromatic and refined than the heavy, pepper-driven profile many smokers expect from Nicaragua.
Honey and marzipan show early, followed by creamy nougat, cedar and earth. Orange zest adds some brightness through the middle, while a gentle ginger spice starts working its way into the finish.
At 6.125″ x 54, the Boreal Toro gives the blend time to move around. Sweetness. Wood. A little citrus. Then spice.
There is plenty going on without the cigar ever needing to become aggressive. A top notch Nicaraguan for sure.

Plasencia Alma del Cielo Boreal Toro (6.125″ x 54) Single Cigar comes from tobacco grown in a place that immediately separates this blend from most Nicaraguan cigars.
Finca San Julián sits high in Condega. About 1,300 meters above sea level.
That elevation means cooler temperatures and a different growing environment, and Plasencia built Alma del Cielo specifically to showcase what that tobacco can do.
The result is not the usual blast of pepper and heavy earth. Boreal starts softer. Honey and marzipan arrive first, followed by a creamy nougat character that gives the opening some richness.
Then the profile begins to change. Cedar becomes more noticeable. Earth starts building underneath. A slight orange-zest character cuts through the sweeter notes and keeps the cigar from becoming too creamy or heavy. That little bit of brightness makes a big difference.
At 6 1/8″ x 54, the Boreal sits right in the middle of the Alma del Cielo lineup.
The ring gauge is substantial without becoming oversized, and the Toro format gives the tobacco enough time to develop slowly. The sweetness does not disappear. It just becomes less dominant. Cedar and earth move forward. Nougat hangs around in the background. Then a warm ginger-like spice begins to show toward the finish.
The entire blend is Nicaraguan, from wrapper through filler, but it does not smoke like a traditional Nicaraguan powerhouse.
That is what makes it interesting. There is body. There is flavor. But the cigar is built more around aroma, sweetness and progression than raw strength.
The Boreal Toro gives you a longer look at that high-elevation tobacco than the smaller Celeste Robusto while staying more focused than the 60-ring Amanecer.
