A dark Mexican San Andrés wrapper surrounds aged tobaccos from Nicaragua and Honduras, producing espresso, roasted coffee, chocolate, caramel, and warm spice with a natural sweetness that hangs around after the smoke leaves.

The Rocky Patel Sapphire Robusto (5.5″ x 50) took the long road to the humidor.
More than a year of blending. Over 100 prototypes. Apparently Rocky Patel was not interested in calling it finished just because it was good.
The final blend starts with a dark Mexican San Andrés wrapper. Underneath are two binders, one from Estelí, Nicaragua and another from Honduras’ Jamastran Valley. The fillers come from Estelí, Jalapa, and Condega, with some of that tobacco aged six to seven years.
Old tobacco tends to have something to say.
Espresso and roasted coffee come first. Dark chocolate follows. Then caramel, cedar, and warm spice start moving around in the background. And there is sweetness. Not flavored. Not syrupy. Just that natural tobacco sweetness that shows up between the darker notes and keeps the cigar from becoming too heavy.
The 5.5″ x 50 Robusto concentrates the whole thing nicely. Enough size for the blend to develop. Not enough room for it to wander off.
