Liga Privada T52 by Drew Estate is dark, rich, and unapologetically full-bodied. The star is its stalk-cut Habano wrapper, grown in Connecticut and patiently fermented to bring out a deep, concentrated character. Underneath sits a Brazilian Mata Fina binder with carefully selected Nicaraguan and Honduran fillers.
Right from the start, T52 brings plenty of earth and black pepper, followed by a heavier, savory richness as it burns. Then a little sweetness works its way in. Caramel, warm tobacco, some lingering spice. It’s complex without trying too hard to be.

Drew Estate builds the T52 around a stalk-cut Habano wrapper grown in Connecticut’s River Valley. Rather than harvesting the leaves individually, the tobacco is stalk-cut and cured, then given an unusually long fermentation period before it ever reaches the rolling table. The result is a thick, rugged-looking wrapper with the kind of rich character that fits the Liga Privada name perfectly.
Beneath that wrapper is a Brazilian Mata Fina binder surrounding Nicaraguan and Honduran filler tobaccos. It’s a powerful combination.
The first stretch tends to come in earthy and peppery. Black pepper makes itself known early, backed by dark tobacco and a savory richness that keeps building. Give it a little time and things start to round out. The spice settles in, deeper flavors appear, and a touch of caramel-like sweetness begins showing up toward the finish.
And there’s smoke. Lots of it.
