The Padron 1964 Anniversary Torpedo Natural (6″ x 52) is one of those cigars that already carries its own reputation before you even light it. In January 2022, Cigar Aficionado named it Cigar of the Year for 2021 and gave it an impressive 97 rating, which says plenty by itself. But the story around this cigar goes deeper than awards. When the 1964 first came out, it was so respected, and so in demand, that it became the first non-Cuban cigar people tried to counterfeit. That part alone tells you what kind of cigar this is.

Because of that, Padron had to create its special double bands with individual numbers, so smokers could tell they were getting the real thing and not some fake. The Padron 1964 Anniversary Torpedo is still a limited and exclusive cigar, with only around 1,000 to 2,000 boxes produced each year. It only goes to a small number of cigar shops, and there are often waiting lists just for a chance to grab a box. So when these are in stock, they usually do not sit around for long. For good reason.
