The Tabernacle Broadleaf Corona does not need a 60 ring gauge to make its point.
Actually, the smaller size may be part of what makes it interesting. Foundation wraps the Corona in dark Connecticut Broadleaf, then uses a Mexican San Andrés binder around a combination of Honduran and Nicaraguan filler tobaccos.
There is a lot of character packed into 46 rings. The first part of the cigar comes in dark. Earth. Cocoa. Pepper. Then espresso starts showing up underneath.
The Connecticut Broadleaf stays involved throughout the smoke, and because the Corona carries less filler than the larger Tabernacle sizes, the wrapper has more room to influence the profile.
That means richer flavor. A little more edge. And a fairly direct ride from beginning to end. As the cigar settles down, the sharper pepper begins moving back and the darker notes start working together. Chocolate gets deeper. Coffee becomes more roasted. Earth stays underneath everything, while leather, wood and a natural Broadleaf sweetness can move in and out through the middle. Nothing feels overly polished. That is part of the charm.
