Tabernacle Connecticut Havana Seed
Don’t let the five-inch length fool you. The Tabernacle David Perfecto No. 142 is a powerhouse of a cigar from Foundation Cigar Company, blended under the direction of Nicholas Melillo. Inspired by the classic Perfecto shapes of decades past, the David takes an old-school approach to construction while delivering the bold tobacco character that made The Tabernacle famous.
The real star here is the Connecticut Havana Seed No. 142 wrapper. Dark, oily, and loaded with personality, this isn’t the mild Connecticut tobacco most smokers are familiar with. Underneath sits a Mexican San Andrés binder holding together Nicaraguan tobaccos from Estelí and Jalapa, along with Honduran leaf from Jamastrán. Every component has a job to do. Nothing feels thrown together.

Tabernacle David Perfecto No. 142 Description
Flavor Profile – Dark, Rich, and Constantly Developing
The opening draws bring a concentrated rush of cedar, black pepper, and dark espresso. There’s an earthy edge underneath it all, with just enough natural sweetness to keep the spice from taking over. As the narrow foot burns into the wider body, the smoke begins to open up. More volume. A thicker texture. Notes of dark cocoa, toasted nuts, and leather begin working their way into the profile.
Around the midway point, the David really starts showing its character. The pepper settles into the background while coffee, warm baking spice, and a touch of molasses-like sweetness take a larger role. The flavor remains substantial without becoming a one-dimensional pepper bomb.
The final stretch brings the darker tobacco notes back into focus. Earth, roasted coffee, and a lingering pepper finish. It’s a bold smoke, certainly, but there’s enough balance here to keep you interested right down to the nub.
